Exodus 29:42-43 This shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD: where I will meet you, to speak there unto thee. 43 And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory.
Exodus 25:22 And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.
When God led the nation of Israel through the wilderness, He had them construct a meeting place called the Tabernacle. The Tabernacle was a tent where God would be present. It was a place where God would meet them.
Literally, the word tabernacle means Tent of Meeting. God found it necessary for His people to have a time and a place where they would meet. It was an appointed time and an appointed place.
If you read the verses preceding Exodus 29:42, you will see where this was daily. It was in the morning and in the evening. It was scheduled. It was specific.
Do you have a scheduled time at a specific place to meet with God? Is it daily? Perhaps it would be better asked: What is keeping you out of God’s Word? Or perhaps: What is keeping you in God’s Word?
For some they do not see a walk with God as vital, for others it is the struggle for consistency. They have desire, but lack consistency.
Perhaps the key is finding a walk with God to be vital.
Scripture reminds us of its importance. In Psalm 1 God promises:
Psalm 1:1-6 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
God instructed Joshua in the importance of his time in the Bible.
Joshua 1:6-8 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. 7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
God equates and promises His success to those who meditate on God’s Word.
Perhaps the key is finding a consistency by having a daily appointment with God. Most people are able to get up and get to work on time. Why? They view it as vital and because they have a set time to be at work.
We need to apply that to our walk with the Lord. Set a specific time and a specific place, a Tent of Meeting (tabernacle), if you will. This is best if it is a quiet time first thing in the morning. It is best if it is at the same time and the same place.
My brother and sister, it is time for all of us who know the Lord to stop soaking up the world and start soaking in God’s Word. Walk with Him daily!
